TUTOR: Adam Brooks DATES AVAILABLE: Wednesday 16th February: 10.00-16.30pm / Price: £75 ABOUT THIS CLASS Making hats is great fun and this Baker Boy Cap looks fantastic on all heads, choose different fabrics according to the season whether a tweed, Denim, Corduroy or cotton print there is bound to be a style suitable for everyone. Decorate with trims and your unique hat will be admired by all. This fabulous class is being taught by Adam whom many of you will recognise from the latest series of the Great British Sewing Bee. This is Adam’s own self drafted pattern and the one he sewed as part of the technical challenge week 3. Skill level- Confident Beginner you will have made projects before and be confident on a machine and able to cut accurately. The topics we aim to cover in this lesson: Cutting your fabrics Interfacings Basic Cap construction Lining a cap Making a stiff peak We will discuss optional trims and finishing Materials needed: *You will need two different fabrics, one for each ‘side’ of your hat. If the fabric is 115cm wide or more, then you will require 50cm of each of your chosen fabrics, if your fabric is less than this width then 70cm of each. Suitable fabrics: Tweed, corduroy, boiled wool,denim – not stretch, linen, cotton – your fabrics need to be stable with no stretch and a good weight. Avoid very thick fabrics or you may struggle with bulky seams. *1 x Matching Thread Materials Included: *Elastic, stiffening for the peak, and interfacing are provided We have sewing machines for you to use but if you would like to bring your own please advise us at the time of booking. All other materials will be provided for your use. Refreshments – Tea, coffee and delicious cake are included in your lesson but please bring a packed lunch.
