Does yours sit collecting dust hardly seeing the light of day in your sewing space? Bring it along to this class and get a grip on what your overlocker can do for you. We will spend some time discussing and practicing the different stitches and techniques available on your machine and then we will put them into practice and make a T-shirt. Class level – Intermediate, you will have sewn other easy to make garments and have good basic sewing knowledge During this class the Topics we aim to cover are: We aim to teach you all the skills you will need to make an easy to wear Tshirt using your overlocker. We have chosen a pattern that is simple to make but can teach you some useful techniques and in the future can be adapted using shorter sleeve lengths and contrasting fabrics. We aim to cover the points on the list below. Depending on how many questions you have, we may not get a chance to cover everything – please let us know if there is something specific you really want help with before you leave if we don’t cover it in the class. Specifically you will learn; Overlocker techniques Stitches and how to change them Tips on cutting out jersey fabric Marking the fabric with notches Using stitch and tear interfacing Attaching a continuous neck band Professional looking hems Materials you need to bring to class: Overlocker, plus all its accessories 4 x overlocker thread Materials included: Jersey for T Shirt Stay Tape For T Shirt Refreshments – Tea, coffee and home-made cake are included in your lesson, but please bring a pack lunch to this class.
