A class for absolute beginners and a fantastic course to get you on your way. In this one off class you will learn how to thread and operate a sewing machine as well as learning the basic stitching techniques you will need when starting your sewing adventure. During the class you will make a simple tote bag to take home with you, and will have picked up new skills and lots of tips to use again and again. This course will provide you with the confidence needed to happily use your sewing machine for future projects. THE TOPICS WE AIM TO COVER ARE: How to thread the machine How to wind on the bobbin and insert the bobbin into the machine Practise stitching straight lines, curves and corners ZigZag stitches Understanding tension and problem solving tension issues Importance of completing the stitch cycle Importance of steering the fabric Machine feet and how to use them Learning to create basic seams MATERIALS NEEDED: We have sewing machines for you to use but if you would like to bring your own please advise us at the time of booking. All other materials will be provided for your use. REFRESHMENTS: Tea, coffee and delicious cake are included in your lesson.
