Have you wished you could make your own blind to match your colour scheme? Unsure where to start? Well worry no more as we have a great class for you. In this one day masterclass we will arm you with the skills and knowledge to create your own Roman blinds at home by producing a half metre blind sample for you to take home and use as a guide to make full size blinds in fabrics of your choice. As well as covering practical information on measuring and sewing we will discuss how to hang the blinds using the traditional batten method with velcro faced tracking. In this class the topics we aim to cover are: *How to measure and calculate fabric amounts to fit your windows *Understanding the importance of fabric grain *Marking and cutting of your fabric *Learning about pattern repeat and how to match patterned fabric. *Discuss interlinings *How to calculate cascading folds *Gain information on different types and weights of fabrics for blinds *Work out calculations for creating castings for dowelling rods *Understand how to hang your blind Materials needed: A blind pack is included in the price of your lesson. We have sewing machines for you to use but if you would like to bring your own please advise us at the time of booking. Refreshments – Tea, coffee and home-made cake are included in your lesson, but for this lesson you will also need to bring a packed lunch.
