Class Description

Tutor Sian Dates Available: Wednesday 11th May & Wednesday 3rd August Time: 18:30 - 21:30 This is a handy class if you already know a little hand sewing. So long as you have basic hand sewing skills you will enjoy and find this class useful. Fashion generates 10% of global carbon emissions, mending your own clothes is cheap, it reduces waste and saves you money. We will learn core skills from sewing on a button, repairing seams and splits, darning knitwear and fixing hems. After this course you will have the ability to mend about 90% of your clothes that need fixing. THE TOPICS WE AIM TO COVER ARE: • Sewing a button • Back-stitch • Herringbone stitch • Ladder stitch • Darning knitwear • Patching MATERIALS NEEDED: We have mending kits for you to use but if you would like to bring your own sewing kit please do. All other materials will be provided for your use. Refreshments – Tea, coffee and delicious cake are included in your lesson
