Tutor: Caroline Are you creative? Do you want to learn how to make your own clothes and bags? Then this course is perfect for you! It is run over 5 weeks on a Friday afternoon. Run over 5 weeks on a Friday afternoon this course will offer the opportunity to make a choice of sewing projects (please note that depending on your sewing experience you might not complete them all but will certainly be equipped with new skills to continue your journey at home). Project choices: Pretty PJ Shorts Makeup bag/ wash bag. Tablet Pouch Please note you must be able to use a sewing machine to complete this class. If you are unable to sew please look at completing our Tween’s Know Your Sewing Machine Class first. Pretty PJ Shorts These fab pj shorts are great for beginner sewers. You will make a simple pair of shorts in a fabric pattern of your choice. We will provide the pattern for this class, please could you email us with your waist and hip measurements [email protected]. We will arm you with the skills to make these shorts and be able to repeat this pattern again and again at home using different materials and trims. In no time you will be whipping up more pairs and even making them for your friends! DURING THE PJ SHORT SESSIONS THE TOPICS WE AIM TO COVER ARE: Laying out the pattern Learn how to cut accurately Marking the pattern with notches/darts etc Apply trims Create a casing Inserting elastic Materials needed: 150cm of fabric (cotton or cotton blends) Matching thread 1m ribbon (which will compliment the fabric) 1 inch wide elastic enough to sit comfortablly around your waist Thread to match MAKE UP/WASH BAG For this project you will make a boxy zipped bag, which can be used as a pencil case, wash bag, make up bag or whatever comes to mind! Super useful and fun to make with the bonus of learning lots of new skills such as inserting a zip and adding a lining. IN THIS SESSION WE WILL COVER: How to measure and cut out your fabric Insert a zip Lining your bag Creating the box shape What you need to bring with you to this session: 40cm x length of your chosen main fabric (cotton or cotton blends) 40cm x length of your chosen lining fabric (cotton or cotton blends) 14inch standard zip to match or contrast Reel of thread to match TABLET/LAPTOP POUCH For this task you will create a padded zipped pouch that will be perfect to keep your tablet or laptop
